Estimating DB size

As with SLR, you can predict from 1 average day how many rows there will be if you purge at 30 days (say). Unfortunately, this doesn't tell you whether 30 days covers your needs. The right policy is in both cases to go for the biggest DB you can afford.

Disk space estimating. 1 MB approx equals 1.6 CYL. (See also other item re setting PRI and SEC quantities)

Tracking size:
%SPACE lists the VSAM ds's for table spaces
%QTAB lists table sizes from DB2 internal info
(Run the RUNSTATS job (DRLDBRS) before QTAB to get valid results)
To look at extents etc: dsn = DDDEVVS.DSNDBD.DRLDB.*
